Once in a Blue Moon, I DO Actually Blog

Hello, My Dearest Fans!

This morning's run was 11 miles long. For the first time, I had brought my watch and was actually able to keep track of how fast I was covering the miles.

For the first two or three miles, my feet felt heavy and my legs felt stiff, but I managed to keep the miles under 10 minutes each. Over time, my legs kind of loosened up and it was easier to run. So much so that somewhere in miles 7-9 or so I did a 9-minute mile but slowed down for the last couple to a 10-minute mile.

My body is displaying the normal "Wow! I didn't expect you to run that far!" symptoms. Soreness in my left calf, a bit of tummy upset, but nothing I haven't experienced before. It's not particularly worrisome.

I much prefer the once-a-mile pace check to the minute-by-minute update that Mari's garman was giving us last week. That way, you don't have to worry about "Now we're doing a 9-minute pace" "Eeek! We've slowed down to 12!" all within the same mile. Investing in a Garman always seemed like a good idea until today.

I look forward to the brouhaha tonight chez Mikey and Monica. I am currently baking cornbread for the event, and hope that it comes in handy tonight and goes well with Scotty's chili. I also hope that Dave doesn't forget to the bring his book I'm supposed to borrow!

Liz
